An Important Agent of Change for the Internationalization of your University
Course description
How the International Office can be an Important Agent of Change When Internationalizing a National University.
The aim of the course is to give insight into how the International Office can be an important agent of change when internationalizing a national university. To to share different experiences regarding the running of IO and learn from instructors and other participants.
Students will fill out a questionnaire before the start of the course and do some group work that will be shared with the rest of the group. Reading material will be distributed on site but participants should make sure that their institution holds a copy of Managing an International Office published by EAIE (European Association of International Education).
Commencing by looking at the positioning and strategy of the IO within your business unit, followed with different units of IO structure and which structure might be the appropriate for your IO.
Another important aspect is the electronization of IO, is the office using new methods to control it‘s data or are papers floating all over? Internationalization is hard to reach is working methods are not adapted.
Staffing of IO is another important factor for a successful and international IO at your university as orientation of incoming and outgoing students and communication needs to be synchronised. Commencing by adding up financial focus and your homepage.
